Definition

A stove is a man made contraption that was made to simply make human life simpler. A stove uses gas to create fire which is then used to cook your food, heat things or make basically anything that needs heat. Before stoves there were just furnaces and such things to cook our meals but with stoves it made everything easier with just the need of some gas. And now in more modern times we have stoves powered by electricity and they are more efficient and safer since there isn’t a possibility of gas leaks for example.

Overview

Stoves are usually built to the size of kitchen countertops since then it would match the kitchen better and have everything be more compact. Like Shown below: The dimensions of a stove are usually 36 inches of height or 3 feet, 30 inches wide and 25 inches deep. The dimensions are not counting the metal parts up top on which you put the pots and pans where you would heat things up and such.

Components/Explanation

There are two different types of stove, electrical and one that burns gas. The most common are the gas stoves and they have thermostats, valves which is what allows the gas to travel through, control panels are the knobs that you turn to set out the amount of gas, and the burners which is where you put pans and such when you cook.

In this diagram you see the top components of a stove which is the part of the stove in which the fire comes out and then you heat things up.

The door that’s open in the diagram above is called the oven part of the stove and this would be where you bake things like cake and just things that need to be at an exact temperature all around. On the top part of a stove the heat is really concentrated but in the oven part it’s spread out and it has a control knob that controls the temperature. This knob is the one directly in the middle as seen in the picture above. Lastly the gas gets in through the back of the stove where usually there is tubery that goes from the stove to the wall and those tubes get the gas from its source to the stove which then gets sparked and creates a fire on the burners. For electric stoves they simply just have metal coils which have electricity running through them when turned on and the electricity heats them up as seen below.

Conclusion

To conclude, stoves are really one of the best inventions since they make human life and routine more efficient. However, the warning I will give is to never allow kids to use a stove since they can hurt themselves considering the fact that it puts out fire. Also to always make sure the knobs aren’t slightly turned because then gas will leak and any type of spark will cause an explosion if there is a lot of gas. For example, turning on a light can cause an explosion if there is a significant smell of gas. If this were to happen the first thing to do if there is a huge smell of gas is to not turn on any lights and open up windows and doors and fans to let the gas leave the home.
